Shannon and I meeting can only be described as fate. She’s another awesome photographer here at Fort Riley, and I stumbled upon her page after she commented on one of my photos. On her business page, she’d mentioned that she wasn’t taking sessions until the end of summer because of a complicated pregnancy. Since I’m nosey, I headed over to her personal page to check her out. I saw this post about #CCAMwarriors and my jaw hit the floor.
Some of you who have been following me for a long time might know that I had a high risk pregnancy with my sweet Miss A. She had a CCAM on her right lung, that we found out about at my 20 week ultrasound. We were transferred to a high risk doctor from the army hosptial and I delivered in Savannah, GA, where she would have surgery six months later. Her surgery went perfectly, and you would never know that my sassy child had any kind of medical problem at all. But CCAMs are pretty rare, and very few people who don’t have one (or a child with one) know what it is. So when I saw Shannon’s post, I was pretty shocked. What were the odds that another photographer in the area I just moved to would also be dealing with this scary diagnosis?
So I shot her a message, in good old creeper fashion… telling her my story. We hit it off right away, and met up for a play date with our oldest kids. We talked about Miss A’s CCAM experience, and what she’s experienced this pregnancy. I’ve loved getting to know her and her family, as well as hearing about her CCAM journey. She asked me to shoot her maternity photos a few weeks ago, and the session turned out so wonderfully. The location was great, and Shannon looked just stunning in her gown. Her men looked fantastic in their outfits too. Big brother gave Shannon’s belly lots of love too, which made for some adorable photos. We couldn’t have asked for a better night.
Little man will be arriving in just over a week, and I’m so excited to meet him. Prayers are greatly appreciated for his safe arrival, as well as his health and strength to thrive with the CCAM.
