What a year this has been. I am so thankful for everything that this year as brought me here at VSP. A year ago, I had no idea where I’d be (both physically and on the business scale). Who would have thought that 2014 would bring more business than ever, a move to a whole new city, and more lessons learned than I ever thought possible.
I made leaps and bounds on the business side of things, including a new website, licensing, a new proofing system and two new computers, but that’s not the fun stuff you want to hear about. This year has provided so much direction, focus, and drive for me. In the middle of the year, some wrongful reporting of my images caused my Facebook page to get shut down. I received more support from fans and fellow photographers than I can believe (still). I’m so grateful for loyal customers and supportive friends for helping me rebuild after what was honestly a pretty traumatic blow to me. I’m happy to say that I’m fully recovered and back in the swing of things 😉
I’ve served countless families this year, couples, and seniors galore. Two national publications (here and here) really lit a fire under me to announce my specialization in seniors, couples, and dancers. Though I’m still serving families, maternity, and individual portraits, this is where my heart is.
Between four trips to Michigan (February, June, July/August, and December), a trip to Columbus before our move, and several trips to Jekyll Island and the coast, I think I’ve shot more of the country this year than I ever have before. I’m still so in love with this industry. I can’t wait to see where 2015 takes me.
Take a look at some of my favorites from a bunch of my 2014 sessions:
